With teams living in Taiwan, and throughout Asia, we regularly cover depositions, arbitrations, and other services in Taipei, Hsinchu, Kaohsiung, and Taitung. Depositions in Taiwan are straightforward and do not require government involvement. As the only court reporting agency in Taiwan with local court reporters and videographers, we are uniquely qualified to handle your Taiwan deposition. You will not need to worry about extra travel expenses or charges for Taiwanese visas.
In 2012 Planet Depos acquired American Realtime Court Reporters to expand our coverage in Asia, providing our clients with even more local court reporters throughout Asia. We are a registered company in Taiwan (Planet Depos Asia, LLC).
Most attorneys prefer the convenience of conducting depositions at a conference room in their hotel in Taipei. For those that prefer an alternative location, we are pleased to offer the following conference room location:
Planet Depos Asia, LLC
Walsin Xinyi Building, 11/F
1 Songzhi Road
Taipei, 11047
Phone: +1.888.433.3767
Planet Depos often covers depositions outside the City of Taipei. Contact us for assistance with hotels and conference rooms across Taiwan.
Another favorite location for U.S. depositions is Hsinchu, known for its annual Lantern Festival. There are not as many hotels in Hsinchu as there are in Taipei, so it is a good idea to plan ahead.
Since there is no airport in Hsinchu, the best mode of transportation is from Taipei by the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), which has a train that runs every 20 minutes, and it usually takes about 30 minutes one way from Taipei to Hsinchu. For more information and schedules, visit THSR.
Prior permission is not required for depositions in Taiwan:
Court reporters are not authorized to administer the oath in Taiwan, so the oath will need to be stipulated on the record. Another option would be to apply to the court for a Commission to Administer Oaths.
Planet Depos provides modern conference rooms for business meetings and more all around the world.

The currency used in Taiwan is the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). Locations such as hotels and restaurants in Taipei accept U.S. credit cards, such as Visa or MasterCard. However, smaller establishments often do not. If you prefer to carry cash, there are many ATMs around the city, and most accept U.S. debit cards. It is common in Taiwan to use cash whenever possible. There are many currency exchange portals in the airport and around the city at locations such as 7-Eleven.
For up-to-date information on the local conversion rate, visit a reputable currency converter website such as OANDA, which also provides an app for smartphones.
It is typical for Taiwan to have a year-long average temperature of approximately 71°. There is rarely a severe season of cold or hot, which makes it a great place to visit at any time of the year. June to October is considered the typhoon season, but July through December offers the best time of year to explore many outdoor activities. May and June can be considered the rainy season, but most showers only come in the afternoon.

Though the plugs are the same as the U.S., if any of your laptops, chargers, etc., has a “ground” (a third prong on the plug), you may need a 3-2 prong adapter. These adapters are available for purchase at Amazon or online and are inexpensive.
